HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY SESSION?

  • Rest up and stay hydrated before your shoot so you can feel + look your best.

  • Moisturize your face/lips/skin before your session

  • Remove any chipped nail polish, and if you’re feeling fancy grab some press ons or a mani/pedi for an extra polished look.

  • Make a playlist of songs you love or make you feel good! This can help take some anxiety away if you feel nervous about your session.

WHAT DO I WEAR?

General Wardrobe Notes

  • Try on wardrobe options prior to your session to avoid any wardrobe issues.

  • Make sure you are comfortable and confident in the wardrobe pieces you’ll be wearing.

  • Bring additional options just in case something doesn’t work out. We can select options together before we begin the session.

  • Steam or Iron garments prior to arrival if needed.

  • Wear undergarments that will work well with your wardrobe (strapless bra, nude toned undergarments, shapewear, etc.)

  • You may add or remove glasses or jackets with each look— this is still considered one outfit/look.

For Actor & Professional Headshots

  • The focus should be on you. Avoid patterns or graphics/designs and instead opt for solid colors or textures and layering.

  • Keep accessories very simple.

  • Choose colors that compliment your skin tone and eye color.

  • I recommend solid tees or tanks, button-downs, henley’s, sweaters, hoodies/jackets/blazers, & dresses.

For Portraits

  • Here’s the most important note—select wardrobe pieces that make you feel confident or bring you joy when you wear them. Express your personality!

  • Accessorize!

  • If you plan to have your legs or feet visible, please bring shoes and garments that coordinate.

  • If there’s a specific vision for your session bring wardrobe pieces, props, and accessories that fit the theme.

DO I NEED A HAIR/MAKEUP ARTIST (HMUA)?

You don’t need to book this service but it is HIGHLY recommended for everyone. You are welcome to do your own makeup and hair or hire your own preferred HMUA professional, however you need to have your hair and makeup done prior to your arrival to the session.

Here are a few reasons I recommend adding professional haired makeup services to your package:

  • Polish your look + minimize the need for retouching.

  • Makeup + hair can pull together a creative vision.

  • My HMUA will stay on set to make sure your makeup and hair continue to look great with each pose and outfit change.

For an extra luxurious experience, I recommend getting a mani/pedi prior to your appointment if you plan to have your hands or toes visible in your photos.

WHAT IS THE PHOTO PRODUCTION PROCESS LIKE?

  1. Consider which package fits your needs. Many of my clients use their images for years! That’s because they select a package with multiple looks/outfit changes and create a small library of images to pull from for web/social content, headshot looks, etc to use in the future. This is super helpful and money-saving in the long term because the images are already there, no need to do another shoot for a while!

  2. Book your session. Send any notes and ideas in the booking form. If you have any questions between booking and the session just reach out to me at booking@lolascottart.com

  3. Prepare for your session. Be sure to plan ahead so you aren’t stressed the day of.

  4. Let’s shoot! You can connect to my speaker to get the vibe right, we’ll go over wardrobe options, select backgrounds to color coordinate, and I’ll help direct throughout the shoot to find your best poses and angles. We’ll be able to view the photos as we take them on my iPad.

  5. After your session I’ll be working on your edits. Depending on my current workload it can take between 2-4 weeks to deliver images so please make sure any need for a quick turnaround is discussed prior to the session. You may have your images expedited within 72 hours for an additional fee.

  6. After your images are edited they are uploaded to Dropbox and sent to your email. You do not have to have a Dropbox account. You can download all of the hi-res images and share them with the world! Upon delivery, you’ll get instructions on how to select images for retouching.

WHAT ABOUT BACKGROUND OPTIONS AND PROPS

There are over 20 different background options in studio as well as a variety of spots just outside the studio door. If you would like a specific color or look please reach out prior to your session to check the current background options. There are a few props in studio, but you’re welcome to bring any props you’d like especially if they help bring together the creative vision or express a part of your personality or brand!

WHAT ABOUT COPYRIGHT?

As the photographer I own the rights to the images I create. You are welcome to use the images from our session for web/social content purposes, press (news articles, interviews, etc.), or for personal printing. I just ask that you tag or credit me where the image is used. Selling an image I’ve taken (by selling prints, access to download the images, placing the image on merch, or using the images for profit) could violate copyright law. If you would like to license the images for commercial use please let me know and we can discuss rates for this type of usage license. If you have any questions please reach out.

WHEN WILL I GET MY IMAGES?

Images are delivered in 2-4 weeks after your session. This is because great things take time (or more specifically I usually have multiple projects / client images on my plate and I am just a human that has to take care of myself, my three children, my two parrots, and my cactus garden sometimes too…whew that is a lot). If you do need your images ASAP please make sure to let me know prior to the session. You may have your images delivered within 72 hours for an additional fee depending on availability.
